The Department of Health has today issued a formal statement detailing increases in chargesfor NHS items with effect from 1 April 2014.
The single prescription charge is being increased by 20 pence from £7.85 to £8.05 for each medicine or appliance dispensed. The costs of prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) are being frozen at current levels for next two years. The three month certificate will therefore remain at £29.10 this year and the cost of the annual certificate will remain at £104. A number of other NHS items charges will also rise from 1 April.
