How your gift can help

There are over 100 different types of liver disease, estimated to affect up to two million adults in the UK. However, many more cases of liver disease remain undiagnosed.

Government mortality statistics for the UK indicate a 12% increase in the last three years of liver related deaths. If these rates continue, deaths from liver disease are predicted to double in 20 years.

However, research in this area as well as treatment and support for those who face the challenges of liver disease are severely under-resourced. By choosing to support the British Liver Trust today you can help us to fight liver disease.

Your support will help us to provide vital services to people who need them so much. Your donation could:

  • help us to run a Helpline for people who have any questions or concerns about liver disease

  • help us to co-ordinate and set up liver patient support groups across the country

  • help us to produce publications about liver disease for patients and healthcare professionals

  • help us to stop liver disease in its tracks by educating the public about ways that liver disease can be prevented

  • help fund research into causes of and treatments for liver disease.
The Trust is working urgently to encourage prevention and investment in treatment and care for people with liver disease. Much of the increasing incidence of liver disease stems from lifestyle trends – relating to alcohol, obesity and viral hepatitis. However, liver disease has many other causes including genetics, abnormalities in the immune system and even the medicines we take. The Trust is working to raise awareness about the liver and combat the stigma associated with liver disease.

The British Liver Trust is Britain’s only national liver disease charity for adults with all forms of liver disease. We work to improve the lives of people affected by liver disease with key roles in education, support and research. We are a charitable organisation and rely on the support of people like you.

With liver disease increasing at an alarming rate the need for us to do more is greater than ever before.
