World Hepatitis Day

Know it. Confront it.  Hepatitis affects everyone, everywhere.

What is World Hepatitis Day?
One in 12 people worldwide have viral hepatitis B or C – prevalence far higher than HIV or any cancer.

Infections are often undiagnosed so the aim of World Hepatitis Day is to encourage people to question themselves (rather than stigmatise others) and to get tested.

Chronic (long term) infection with hepatitis B (HBV) or hepatitis C (HCV) can cause liver failure and liver cancer. But simple measures are enough to help most people in the UK avoid life threatening liver disease - get protected, get tested, get treated. Learn more about looking after your liver

"I am honoured to have been Jim’s wife. I have written his life story in order to raise public awareness of the vital importance of the early diagnosis of hepatitis C. If detected and treated early enough, lives can be saved. If Jim’s story saves just one life, then his death will not have been in vain. I know from experience how hard it can be to watch a loved one suffer with hepatitis C and my heart goes out to anyone suffering with this disease.” Kerry McPhail
