Volunteer your time
Our volunteers are an invaluable resource and fulfil a wide variety of roles.
Share your experiences
Could you share your personal experience of liver disease – online, in the media or with the Trust? Individual stories are very powerful in helping to raise awareness in a human, easily understood and sympathetic way and also help us to campaign for improvements in service provision. Read Pat’s story .
Help to fundraise
Could you organise a street collection where you live, contact local businesses to ask about fundraising or charity of the year opportunities or raise awareness by giving talks to schools and community organisations?
What we would also love to do is have fundraising groups set up around the country. Being part of a group means that you can share your ideas and also the responsibility for organising.
Perhaps you and a group of friends and family could organise a collection once a month, or have a fundraising evening every summer with a raffle and a quiz?
The events don’t need to be too complicated, just a fun way to gather a group together to raise much needed funds and awareness about the Trust.
Help develop health information
Could you help us in the development of our health information? All our health information is reviewed by people with experience of liver disease to make sure it is clear, understandable and answers patient information needs.
You can help us understand any gaps or new information which is needed by completing our feedback form and letting us know if we can contact you when we are planning a publication update.
Support others affected by liver disease
If you are suffering from liver disease yourself perhaps you could get involved with a support group , or even set a new one up.
Can you support others online through our forum or Facebook pages?
Help us in the office
We are very happy to help people who volunteer for us gain work experience, learn new skills and build confidence. So if you are fresh out of college, or thinking about returning to work now that your children are grown up, there are opportunities in all areas of our organisation to form a relationship which is beneficial to both yourself and to us.
Professional advice and governance
The professionals and doctors who make up our board of Trustees and Medical Advisory Committee all give their time and expertise on a voluntary basis.
We are also seeking to convene a small panel of GPs whom we can work with from time to time, to better understand primary care concerns and ideas regarding patient care and liver service improvements.
