The British Association for the Study of the Liver (BASL) is dedicated to the knowledge and understanding of the biology and pathology of the liver. BASL members are composed of both scientists and clinicians interested in liver physiology and pathophysiology, as well as members from the pharmaceutical industry.
BASL arranges an annual meeting which usually takes place the second week in September. The meeting normally consists of two symposia, two state of the art talks, update lectures on contentious issues as well as selected oral and poster presentations. In addition, at the annual meeting, BASL Travel Awards are given to BASL members who are below status of Senior Lecturer or Consultant and who have abstracts selected for presentation at the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD).
BASL also awards a Young Investigators Award to members who are below the status of Senior Lecturer or Consultant. The Award is based on submission of a two page summary of research and achievements plus references submitted to the BASL Committee two months prior to the annual meeting.
Your annual subscription is used to organise the annual meeting which members are invited to attend the scientific sessions and dinner at the members special rate.
