The British Liver Trust has published two guides on viral hepatitis, 'A professional's guide to hepatitis B' and 'A professional's guide to hepatitis C', to initiate a new series of information aimed at health professionals.
The guides will be useful for a strata of practitioners working across a number of clinical environments outside hepatology where the knowledge and guidelines required to treat liver disease may be less evident. Non-practitioners also, such as health and safety advisors, drug counsellors and others similarly called upon to advise in health-related settings will benefit from familiarity with the guides.
Written by eminent hepatologists, the guides provide a current overview of disease prevalence in the UK followed by brief guidance on diagnosis, prevention and treatment. A glossary, a list of resources and contact details for useful organisations are also provided.
