Highlights from Love Your Liver (June 2017)

The British Liver Trust Love Your Liver campaign aims to raise awareness of the risk factors, prevent liver disease and improve early diagnosis.

Love Your Liver encourages adults to take three simple steps to good liver health – reduce alcohol consumption, improve diet and exercise, and reduce the risk of contracting viral hepatitis.

In 2017, the Love Your Liver campaign toured liver ‘hot spots’ in England raising awareness and offering free screening and scanning in a Love Your Liver Mobile Unit.

In June:

We visited Sunderland, Scunthorpe, Blackpool, Salford and Manchester, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, Bristol, London, Southampton and Poole
We scanned more than 750 people in our specially adapted mobile screening unit
116 People were referred to their doctor – including more than 20 who had potentially serious liver problems but were completely unaware
100% of those who attended our roadshows rated them as either excellent or good
Around 15,000  Love Your Liver materials were sent out so that supporters and healthcare professionals could run local events
The campaign was supported by more than 20 other organisations including Public Health England, the RCGP, the Alcohol Health Alliance and NHS Health at Work
Over 3,730 people took our online screening test to find out if they were at risk of liver disease
