Day and Jared’s dad was given a blood transfusion that hadn’t been properly tested and he contracted hepatitis C. The virus caused cirrhosis of the liver and in late 2014 he developed hepatic cancer and needed a transplant.
Both brothers put themselves forward as potential live liver donors and Day donated half of his liver to his dad after he was found to be the more suitable match. Day is supporting the Trust by sharing his story in the media and by fundraising on our behalf. He tells his story in the Guardian newspaper
Jared shares his family’s amazing story on his blog: http://myblog.jaredwa.com/the-gift-part-1-2/
